To “belong” to anywhere is to have in one’s heart “a longing” for a particular place. My sense of “to be in longing for” centers around Windgrove, the 100 acre wind swept property where its moods both reflect and influence my own.
What flows through the trees here is an erotic spirit — sometimes lively and frisky; sometimes dark and moody. It never fails to bring my sensual self to arousal.
What wafts through the trees changes more frequently than the tides that daily wash clean the shore’s sand. Today, replacing the glowing warmth of yesterday, a flat grey percolates down a misty melancholy.
“If you come with me
we’ll take a walk in the heart.”lyrics, Caro Flood
I venture out with my longing into the landscape, pass beneath the beckoning arching green leaved portal and move into and among familial members of my heart.
When I allow myself to dive into the dark mystery of life for an up close look, its ever present beauty always, always floors me. How can a heart filled with even a tinge of sadness have room for all this green love?
Don’t ask me how, but it does make room for it to enter and rearrange the furniture of the heart into something more comfortable.
