Life on the Edge

Atheist or agnostic?

My rational, left hemisphere brain is atheistic. Through science, it’s convinced that the workings of the universe will ultimately, if not totally at present, be proven factually.

My intuitive, right hemisphere brain is agnostic. Through a life time of art practice, it’s not convinced about anything, and understands that some things will never be proven. Whether this be proof about the existence of God or the existence of “Something” prior to the Big Bang, well, only the heart can hold this “Unknown” and allow it to simply be.

My favorite sort of “Big Bang” takes place in the garden whenever the leaves of a broccoli plant burst open to reveal a myriad of tiny life forms.

Are you looking for me?

Are you looking for me? I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
You will not find me in stupas, not in Indian shrine rooms, nor in
synagogues, nor in cathedrals:
not in masses, nor kirtans, not in legs winding around your own
neck, nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me, you will see me instantly —
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
God is the breath inside the breath.
